Creating a Cozy Home Office in a Small Space
As someone who’s lived different places, I’ve had my fair share of trial and errors trying to create a cozy home office. So, if you think you need a huge space to create a home office, think again. Whether you’re in a studio apartment or a townhouse with small bedrooms, you can absolutely carve out a space to house your computer, desk and a bookshelf.
The home I’m in now is the most spacious one I’ve lived in, but I knew I didn’t want to set up shop in the largest bedroom. Instead, I chose one of the smaller bedrooms and immediately began thinking about how to make my vision come to life. As imaginative as I can be, I turned to the one place that has endless inspiration: Pinterest.

Glimpses Into My Home Office
What I’ve noticed about my home decor tastes is that I’m influenced by my parents and inspiration I’ve seen on Pinterest. I thought I’d completely lean towards neutrals like my mom, but I also enjoy pops of color. In terms of style, I enjoy a mix of mid-century modern, contemporary, and vintage [think rattan pieces].
It made sense for me to incorporate their elements in my office, but I didn’t want to go overboard. For the most part, I feel there’s a cohesiveness to the colors in my office and that’s the point. Whatever decor you choose, it has to feel like a sigh of relief to you. If you’re going to spend a lot of time somewhere, why not align it with things you’re drawn to?
