Downsizing My Office

Most times it feels like I’m never really done decorating because I’ve moved a few times as an adult. One of my problems is that I never felt attached to the places I’ve lived in because I knew I’d be moving again. But, I’ve been trying to be more intentional with the apartment I’ve been in for the past two years and have recently downsized my office.

It’s noticeably different than the way it looked when we first moved in, but I’m okay with it. Somehow, this corner feels like a slice of heaven when I look at it. I find that I immediately perk up whenever I start my work day and the light that comes through the blinds? Amazing.

It just feels way more inspirational.

What’s New Vs. What’s Different

My desk and my rug are the only items I haven’t changed because they remind me of a time I started feeling like myself after postpartum blues. As much as I’d like to not be the person who always talks about their life as a mom, a lot of my interior decisions — mostly frazzled — were made when I didn’t feel like myself.

Now things are based on my love for pops of color and minimalism on my terms. No, seriously. I thought about getting a pink desk at a point. While that would be cute, it would make me feel overwhelmed. Having a white desk with brass accents is more than enough for me.
